Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (Tamil Nadu) was established as a Public Charitable Trust during May, 1990 and has been striving to promote Entrepreneurship Culture in Tamil Nadu for around 30 years.
Some of our current major activities are:
I. Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Activities:
CED (Tamil Nadu) has been implementing the flagship schemes of Government of India sponsored by different ministries. It is imparting Entrepreneurship and Skill Development programmes to the different sections of the people.
- Programme Implementation Agency (PIA) of NSTEDB of Department of Science and Technology and EDII, Ahmedabad to implement Entrepreneurship Development Initiatives for the Science and Technology candidates.
- Programme Implementation Agency (PIA) for implementing the SVEP Scheme of the Ministry of Rural Development under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM). It has also implemented Rurban Scheme of the said Ministry in Madurai District.
- Nodal Training Institute (NTI) to implement their prestigious AC & ABC scheme of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare.
- Programme Implementation Agency (PIA) of the PM YUVA Scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry States.
- It is also functioning as a Training Provider / Training Centre to implement the skill development initiatives in different sectors sponsored by the Ministry.
- Technical Consultancy Agency for the SFURTI Scheme implemented by Ministry of MSME, Government of India through KVIC.
II. Major CSR Initiative of Eicher Group Foundation implemented by CED:
CED (Tamil Nadu) has been retained as a Project Implementing Agency for the CSR Project of Eicher Group Foundation and it has established “RE Academic for Technical Skills”, Padappai, Chennai with a mandate of training 1000 diploma candidates every year through the innovative scheme of One Month FREE Technical Training and Placement in Automobile Sector. It has achieved 100% placement during 2020-21. The training is in progress for the project year 2021-22.
The above said activities motivated the higher education and training institutions to collaborate with CED (Tamil Nadu) for the benefits of their students. The students of higher education under the guidance of CED (Tamil Nadu) are given Sector Specific Skill Training to facilitate gainful employment and Entrepreneurship Development Training to facilitate profitable self-employment.
CED (Tamil Nadu) has established Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) in many of the colleges in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Over a period of 30 years, around 100 colleges established EDC with our support.
During the current year, the following colleges signed MoU with CED (Tamil Nadu) for strengthening their EDC activities, Entrepreneurship Research Programmes and extension activities.
- Lady Doak College, Madurai
- PMT College, Usilampatti, Madurai District
- Rrase College of Engineering, Padappai, Chennai
- Solaimalai College of Engineering, Madurai
- Senthamarai College, Madurai
- Pandian Saraswathi College of Engineering, Madurai
- Saradha Gangadharan College, Puducherry
Apart from the above, 24 Industrial Training Institutes and Six Polytechnic Colleges are working under the direct guidance and supervision of CED (Tamil Nadu) as part of the PM YUVA Scheme of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Govt. of India.
